Job Summary
AECOM is hiring a Structural Engineer for our Buildings + Places practice in Clifton, NJ. Responsibilities include:
Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Prepare design calculations for various structural elements including foundations, retaining walls, structural steel, concrete, wood & cold formed members
Prepare finite element structural analysis models for buildings
Prepare contract drawings and specifications
Prepare three-dimensional structural analysis models using structural software
Develop load-supporting structural systems and specifications
Coordinate structural work with other disciplines
Review shop drawings and calculations and prepare responses to requests for Information during construction
Prepare cost estimates for the structural work including quantity take offs and estimates
Prepare sketches and be able to draw using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Conduct field inspections, condition assessments, and prepare reports
Required Candidate profile
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and 4+ plus years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education
FE/EIT Certificate
Capable of using a spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software
Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, and MicroStation)
Knowledge of structural analysis and design of steel, wood, cold-formed steel and reinforced concrete structures
Knowledge and coursework in earthquake engineering, wind analysis, and finite element analysis are required
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer License.
Experience with various software packages for analysis and design such as RAM Structural, RAM Elements, RAM Connection, TEDDS, Mathcad, Woodworks, ETABS, SAP, SAFE and Revit
